September 8, 2010 Update...

Chin's e-mail from this week was a little confusing, so I'll try to sum it up in my own words. Christian was diagnosed with Ulceractive Colitis which is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that affects the large intestine (colon) and rectum. I'm not sure quite what to think of that, haha! His dosage of medication has been upped since last time he went to the doctor and it isn't helping, so they will most likely send him home in the next couple of weeks or so.

The day that he wrote us the e-mail he said that President Monson was coming to do a devotional at the MTC. I'm sure we'll hear about that soon. It sounds like Chin has been hanging out with this other missionary that has been there 14 weeks because of hypoglycemia. Poor kids, do they really need to be hanging at the MTC that long? haha!

Thats about all he said, his e-mails aren't very long. I think he is using his e-mail time for something else.

Golly Gee! Two in one day!

All is going well here. I am fine with all the doctor stuff , I am hoping the specialist here will be able to get everything figured out. They told me i might be delayed in leaving the mtc by 2-4 weeks if they have to do a scope which they probably will.

One of my teachers served in the Everett mission a little over a year ago. He is a huge Mariners fan now, which i don't understand because he is originally from Philly; this should automatically make him a huge Phillies fan. But as bob dylan says the times they are a changing. There is no fan loyalty left in this world.
On sunday i was having a pretty rough day and my Branch President actually sent me to my room because I looked super sick. He got me a rush appointment with the health people even though i had one scheduled later this week. He is a really nice guy and loves all the missionaries here. I have lost 12 lbs here at the mtc and am averaging 9 bathroom trips a day which i find quite commendable.

One of the elders here is the spitting image of Barry and acts just like him. He is even a yankees fan. We recorded a tape for his mom on the way up to the temple, he decided to interview me about how boring it was being disconnected from the outside world. We get along really well and play baseball and frisbee together every gym period. I was told yesterday by a sister missionary that i was cute and i am beginning to realize that some of them probably come here to get married. It is kind of weird.
Anyways I love you guys and hopefully I will hear from you soon

First P-Day

Mom recieved a letter, but can't figure how to scan it in and send it to me. When she does I will post it. Here is his first e-mail that he sent.

So things in the mtc are going well. I am having some stomach troubles still with alot of stomach and back pain. I just hope that they can find out whats going on because this is not making my experience fun. i have gone a couple meals without eating today and it has sort of helped but not as much as i had hoped it would. Other than that everything has gone well. I have enjoyed the letters i have recieved from you guys and from grandma and collette. i had a letter waiting for me from ariel when i got here.

I have oddly enough not been homesick or even sad about not being at home since i got here. Sure i miss having food at my beck and call and doing my own laundry is still a pain but its just sacrifices i will have to make i guess.

I am learning alot in my classes and am really enjoying them all. I am trying really hard not to miss any information or waste any study time because there is so much information to be grasped here and at times it feels like i am trying to drink out of a fire hose.

Being a DL isnt helping at all with focusing completely on studying either. I am taken from study time for meetings 3 days a weeek and i can now relate to dad because i have an extra 3 hours of sunday meetings just to discuss the district and to do training on being a DL. My companion Elder Miller is a way nice guy from Farmington UT. He is a computer science major at the U. He is really smart and truly loves the gospel. He is a great example and support in my leadership position. He has certainly made the transition from home to here that much easier.

There is a kid in our district named elder abayta. he reminds me so much of barry that sometimes i forget that its not. he loves the yankees and knows anything sports. We can just talk like we have been best friends for years and it doesnt even seem like we just met.

I have lost 12 lbs in the mtc because of constant fluid run off and am now having to resort to buying my gatorade from the mtc bookstore ;). Hopefully i can get myself better soon because i dont think i can handle this sickness for the next 2 years. My skin feels like it is falling off due to the dry air here, I am now wishing i had brought the lotion that mom tried to send me with.

My teachers here are pretty awesome. One of them served in the everett mission and at 1 point was actually in 2nd ward. he got married about 4 months after he got back which even he agreed was way way way too fast. But anyway my time is running short so i gotta jet. i will email you guys in a week! have a good week and tell the dog i said hi!
